WHAT TO EXPECT

Soccer Shots is often a child’s first structured activity and we know that there will be some anxiousness amongst the children especially if this is their first time. It’s completely normal and we’ve seen it increase as a result of Covid. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for children to get acclimated and it requires patience. Please don’t give up or get frustrated with your child. They will get there!

Our curriculum is developed by people with an early childhood background. Not only are we working on children's gross motor skills, but we're also teaching them to use their listening ears and follow directions while also believing in themselves. You will hear a lot of 'I CAN DO IT COACH!!!

2yo Mini class - 9:00 - 9:30am

If your child is participating in the 2yo Mini class, we do request parents to participate. We usually find that after a few weeks children become more independent, increase their gross motor skills and as a result, your involvement will become less.

A 2yo's attention span is, at maximum, 25-30 minutes. Often times it's less. As you might imagine, a 2yo Soccer Shots class can get a bit chaotic and therefore requires a lot of patience. But it's great to see how much they progress from week 1 to week 8 as they will have learned little kicks, change speeds, step-over's, passing and trapping and to use their feet.

3yo Classic class - 9:40 - 10:15am

Some children in the 3yo class will need help from parents (especially if they are runners) and others won’t. You can stay with your child as much as needed.

The 3yo class will introduce a new soccer skill and character word each week.

The key difference between the 3yo and 4/5yo classes is the scrimmage at the end of the session. Most three year-old's are still learning how to share so going right into a scrimmage with one soccer ball is often problematic. We gradually work towards using one soccer ball with the 3’s whereas in the 4/5yo class, we use one ball early on in the season.

4/5yo Classic Class - 10:25 - 11:05am

We usually ask parents to stay on the side in the 4/5yo Classic class but if your child is experiencing some anxiousness, you are welcome to stay with them on the field.

The 4/5yo class is typically structured the same as the 3yo class except for the scrimmage.
